Medical Doctors at the European Patent Office

At the EPO, medical committees play an important role in taking decisions on long-term or extended sick leave, handicapped children and disputes of a medical nature. They consist of two doctors, one nominated by the EPO, the other by the staff member concerned, but are often supplemented by a third doctor as an independent member.
