Αόρατες πόλεις : Φανταστικές μακέτες για πόλεις από χαρτί

Οι καλλιτέχνιδες Camille Benoit και Mariana Gella αξιοποίησαν τις ημέρες της καραντίνας προκειμένου να σχεδιάσουν αρχιτεκτονικά μοντέλα φανταστικών πόλεων, κατασκευασμένα από χαρτί και υλικά που είχαν στο σπίτι.

Τρόπος κατασκευής

Οι καλλιτέχνιδες που εδρεύουν στο Λονδίνο, είχαν προβληματιστεί για το τρισδιάστατο έργο, που ονομάζεται «Invisible Cities», και λίγο πριν γίνει το lock down στο Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο, είχαν την ευκαιρία να το σχεδιάσουν.

Τα τέσσερα χάρτινα μοντέλα τους, που ονομάζονται Saori, Azra, Calista και Ika, είχαν στοιχεία από το βιβλίο του Italo Calvino με τίτλο «Invisible Cities», το οποίο «εξερευνά τη φαντασία μέσω των περιγραφών των ταξιδιών του Marco Polo», σύμφωνα με τους σχεδιαστές.

Η Benoit και η Gella μετέτρεψαν το σαλόνι τους σε εργαστήριο για τη συναρμολόγηση του έργου.

«Τις περισσότερες μέρες θα ξυπνούσαμε με μικροσκοπικά κομμάτια από το έργο στα κρεβάτια μας. Ζήσαμε πλήρως αυτήν την εμπειρία σε χαρτί», είπαν στον dezeen.

Κάθε μοντέλο αντιπροσωπεύει μια διαφορετική Αόρατη Πόλη. «Αρχικά σκιαγραφήσαμε τις τέσσερις πόλεις σε χαρτί πριν αναπτύξουμε τα εμπρόσθια ύψη στο Illustrator για να πάρουμε μια γενική ιδέα για το πώς θα φαίνεται η αρχιτεκτονική», εξήγησαν οι καλλιτέχνες.

«Χρησιμοποιώντας ένα τρισδιάστατο λογισμικό, «Rhinoceros», ψάξαμε αρκετά τους τόμους μέχρι να βρούμε τις σωστές αναλογίες για κάθε πόλη».

Η Benoit και η Gella έφτιαξαν κομμάτια 2D που κόπηκαν τόσο κοπτικά όσο και χειροκίνητα και στη συνέχεια συναρμολογήθηκαν σε τρισδιάστατα μοντέλα, μερικά με πρόσθετα μεταλλικά σύρματα για σταθερότητα.

«Παρά τα παρακάτω βήματα για τις πόλεις, η καθεμία παρουσίασε μοναδικές προκλήσεις», εξήγησαν οι σχεδιαστές.

«Για παράδειγμα, το Azra είναι μικρότερο από το άλλο και χρειάστηκε περισσότερη υπομονή κατά τη φάση κατασκευής – όσο μικρότερο είναι, τόσο πιο δύσκολο είναι να συναρμολογηθούν».
