Ένας μαγικός «Καθεδρικός» στο Δάσος του Ντιν

Το Δάσος του Ντιν είναι ένας μαγικός τόπος που αποτέλεσε πηγή έμπνευσης για τον Τζ. Ρ.Ρ. Τόλκιν, προοκειμένου να δημιουργήσει το Βασίλειο των Ξωτικών στον «Άρχοντα των Δαχτυλιδιών».

Μέσα στο Δάσος του Ντιν, στην κομητεία του Γκλόστερσιαρ της Αγγλίας, υπάρχει ένα μονοπάτι θαυμάτων, το Forest of Dean Sculpture Trail: Μια υπέροχη βόλτα μέσα στο δάσος, ακολουθώντας ένα μονοπάτι το οποίο

φιλοξενεί, είτε μόνιμα είτε όχι, μικρά ή μεγάλα γλυπτά. Μοναδικά, που αιχμαλωτίζουν το μάτι του περιπατητή.

Σύμφωνα με το ΑΠΕ – ΜΠ, απ’ όλα, το πιο σαγηνευτικό είναι «Ο Καθεδρικός». Ένα πολύχρωμο παράθυρο αιωρείται ανάμεσα στα δέντρα, στηριζόμενο σε ξύλινες δοκούς που σαν να είναι ο σκελετός ενός ιερού κτίσματος.

Το φυσικό φως παιχνιδίζει μέσα από τις ψηφίδες αυτού του βιτρό που δημιούργησε ο Κέβιν Άθερτον, προκαλώντας ανάφλεξη των υπέροχων χρωμάτων του και αφήνοντας «πιτσιλιές» στο δασώδες τοπίο. Πισωπατώντας για να το θαυμάσεις, αισθάνεσαι σαν να βρίσκεσαι μέσα σ’ έναν δασένιο καθεδρικό ναό, με τοίχους από δέντρα και τρούλο τα πυκνά φυλλώματα.

Το Μονοπάτι Γλυπτών του Δάσους του Ντιν εγκαινιάστηκε το 1986, αρχικά σε συνεργασία με τη μεγαλύτερη γκαλερί του Μπρίστολ, την Amolfini. Το συνολικό μήκος του είναι 7 χιλιόμετρα, ενώ μικρότερες διαδρομές – 3,5 χιλιομέτρων η μία και 4,8 χιλιομέτρων η άλλη – επιτρέπουν επίσκεψη σε επιλογή των γλυπτών. Κάθε χρόνο προσελκύει περί τους 300.000 περιπατητές, και είναι προσβάσιμο κάθε μέρα, από την αυγή έως το σούρουπο…
