Κοροναϊός : Ο Λεονάρντο Ντι Κάπριο στο πλευρό των ευάλωτων

Ο αμερικανός σταρ του Χόλιγουντ Λεονάρντο Ντι Κάπριο, η Λορίν Πάουελ Τζομπς και η Apple καθώς και το Ίδρυμα Ford ένωσαν τις δυνάμεις τους για τη δημιουργία του America’s Food Fund (Αμερικανικό Ταμείο Τροφίμων), οργανισμού που έχει συγκεντρώσει ήδη 12 εκατομμύρια δολάρια για τις κοινότητες στις ΗΠΑ

που πλήττονται από την πανδημία του κοροναϊού.

Τα χρήματα θα διατεθούν για την καθημερινή σίτιση οικογενειών με χαμηλά εισοδήματα, ηλικιωμένων, ανθρώπων που είναι αντιμέτωποι με απολύσεις και παιδιών που βασίζονται στα προγράμματα σχολικών γευμάτων.

Το America’s Food Fund θα συνεργαστεί με τις οργανώσεις αρωγής που υλοποιούν προγράμματα σίτισης, World Central Kitchen και Feeding America.

Ο ηθοποιός Λεονάρντο ΝτιΚάπριο είναι συνιδρυτής του America’s Food Fund μαζί με τη φιλάνθρωπο Λόρενς Πάουελ Τζομπς, χήρα του Στιβ Τζομπς. Η Apple και το Ίδρυμα Ford παρέχουν επίσης κεφάλαια για να βοηθήσουν στην έναρξη της νέας πρωτοβουλίας.

«Τους ευχαριστώ για την ακούραστη δουλειά τους στην πρώτη γραμμή, αξίζουν όλη μας την υποστήριξη» ανέφερε ο Λεονάρντο Ντι Κάπριο ο οποίος μαζί με την Λόρενς Πάουελ Τζομπς ξεκίνησαν την εκστρατεία συλλογής δωρεών για το GoFundMe.Org με στόχο όσο το δυνατόν περισσότεροι άνθρωποι να έχουν πρόσβαση σε τρόφιμα.

«Σε περιόδους ανάγκης, ένα πιάτο φαγητού είναι τόσο ζωτικής σημασίας τροφή όσο και μήνυμα ελπίδας από την κοινότητα, ότι ενδιαφερόμαστε και είμαστε εδώ για να διασφαλίσουμε ότι αύριο τα πράγματα θα είναι καλύτερα» δήλωσε ο σεφ και φιλάνθρωπος, Χοσέ Αντρές ιδρυτής του World Central Kitchen.

Η οργάνωση διανέμει 100.000 φρέσκα γεύματα καθημερινά σε επιβάτες κρουαζιερόπλοιων που βρίσκονται σε καραντίνα και σε ευάλωτες κοινότητες μέσω διανομέων και συνεργαζόμενων εστιατορίων στη Νέα Υόρκη, το Νιούαρκ, το Μαϊάμι, το Λος Άντζελες, το Όκλαντ, τη Νέα Ορλεάνη, το Λιτλ Ροκ και την Ουάσινγκτον.

Η Όπρα Γουίνφρεϊ έκανε δωρεά ενός εκατομμυρίου δολαρίων στο Αμερικανικό Ταμείο Τροφίμων και το παράδειγμά της ακολούθησαν πολλοί εκπρόσωποι της βιομηχανίας του θεάματος.

Founded by @ChefJoséAndrés, WCK has been on the forefront of providing meals to people in need in the wake of man-made and natural disasters around the world.
