«Νέο κύμα» στην πρόσοψη καλλιτεχνικού σχολείου στο Μεξικό

Το Μεξικό παράγει κάθε χρόνο μισό εκατομμύριο τόνους πλαστικά απορρίμματα που καταλήγουν στον ωκεανό.

Για να δείξει τι μπορεί να γίνει με την ανακύκλωση πλαστικών μπουκαλιών, το αρχιτεκτονικό γραφείο UMA (Ulf Mejergen Arcitects) πρότεινε να επαναχρησιμοποιήσει πλαστικά μπουκάλια για να δημιουργήσει την πρόσοψη ενός καλλιτεχνικού σχολείου στην κεντροαμερικανική χώρα.

Staggering numbers that urgently needs to be addressed. With this building we want to set a precedent on what can be done with recycled plastic bottles, an action that hopefully could inspire other people and communities. A simple and economic wall system will make this possible; painted bottles in a color gradient pierced through bent rebar. The expressive waves are meant to rise curiosity and offer an inspiring environment for the kids to thrive in, but it is also a reminder of where these bottles where taken from." Με την ελπίδα ότι θα είναι ένα θετικό παράδειγμα για την τοπική κοινωνία, τα εκφραστικά «κύματα» της πρόσοψης στοχεύουν να τραβήξουν την προσοχή των περαστικών. Το πρότζεκτ «Νέο Κύμα» του UMA θέλει να δημιουργήσει ένα περιβάλλον έμπνευσης μέσα στο οποίο θα ανθήσουν τα μικρά παιδιά.

Στους πάτους των μπουκαλιών έχουν ανοίξει τρύπες και τα περνούν σε χαλύβδινες βέργες (από αυτές που χρησιμοποιούνται σε οπλισμένο σκυρόδεμα), τις οποίες στη συνέχεια κάμπτουν για να δώσουν την επιθυμητή όψη ενός κύματος.

Έχουν γεμίσει με άμμο ή τσιμέντο τα μπουκάλια που βρίσκονται πλησιέστερα στο έδαφος, για να εξασφαλίσουν τη σταθερότητα της κατασκευής. Τα μπουκάλια είναι βαμμένα σε διαβάθμιση μπλε-κυανό-λευκό και τα «κύματα», σε ορισμένα σημεία, μπορούν να χρησιμεύσουν ως καθίσματα.

Στην ουσία, το «Νέο Κύμα» φιλοδοξεί να αναδείξει,όπως αναφέρει το ΑΠΕ, το πόσο βλαβερό είναι το πλαστικό για το θαλάσσιο περιβάλλον μας και πώς μπορεί να χρησιμοποιηθεί, ανακυκλωμένο, στην αρχιτεκτονική.
