Thousands of tons of garbage are transported on a land property, which was previously showroom and depot of Municipality of Pyrgos, making it extremely dangerous for hospital patients, employees and residents of the area.

This absurdity started

a few months ago, as a result of the inability of the previous Municipal Authority to address the problem of the urban waste management. By stating that the city is in an emergency because of the waste, the former Municipal Authority chose this site as a waste transfer station and violated the whole environmental legislation.

Finally, and in contrast to the early promises that the garbage will be removed on a daily basis, volumes of garbage began to pile up, and later when there was not the potential for transfer to a licensed landfill (Phili, Nafpactos, etc.), it converted to normal dump that receives all the waste of the city of Pyrgos.

In the area, the stench is suffocating, thousands of insects and rodents have been developed, there is no provision for leachate, the risk of fire or flood, and the risk of transmission of infectious diseases is very high.

The Municipality of Pyrgos has placed one health bomb next to the largest hospital of the county, which should be remembered that a few years ago had been damaged by a flood and all fear the consequences if the flood will be repeated, when thousands of tons of garbage are there.

The photos are characteristic of the greatness of irresponsibility, which was initiated by the prior municipal authority and continues by the new, which simply calls for the understanding of society.
