Οι αλλαγές στο εσωτερικό είναι μεγαλύτερες αφού η Giulietta διαθέτει νέο τιμόνι, νέα κεντρική κονσόλα, νέο ταμπλό, νέα πάνελ στις πόρτες, ενώ στο κέντρο του ταμπλό συναντάμε και το σύστημα ενημέρωσης και ψυχαγωγίας U-connect, με οθόνη αφής 5″ ή 6,5″ και σύστημα πλοήγησης, που τοποθετήθηκε για πρώτη φορά στο 500L. Επίσης συναντάμε νέα καθίσματα με νέες επενδύσεις, νέα διακοσμητικά και επιπλέον αποθηκευτικούς χώρους. Η ποιότητα των υλικών στο εσωτερικό είναι καλύτερη με τα σχεδόν τα πάντα να διαθέτουν αντοχή στης γρατσουνιές.

Η έκδοση Quadrifoglio Verde διαθέτει σπορ καθίσματα με μαύρο δέρμα και Alcantara και λογότυπο στα προσκέφαλα. Συνολικά 5 επίπεδα εξοπλισμού θα διαθέτει η ανανεωμένη Giulietta (Impression, Progression, Distinctive, Exclusive και Quadrifoglio Verde) όπου στον βασικό εξοπλισμό συναντάμε 6 αερόσακους, το σύστημα Alfa DNA, air condition και σύστημα ελέγχου πίεσης ελαστικών.

The new Giulietta Model Year 2014 and MiTo MY 2014 are certainly no exception. These two cars have made a mark in their respective segments with their perfect alchemy of essential style, compact and powerful engines, the right power to weight ratio and pure Alfa Romeo technological features devoted to driving pleasure.

The Giulietta model has taken Alfa Romeo into the lead in an important segment in Europe, proving to everyone that ‘powerful’ can also be ‘efficient’, that ‘elegant’ can be ‘comfortable’ and that ‘compact’ can also be ‘fun’. That’s why the Giulietta has received no fewer than 22 awards and notched up a total of 224,000 sales since launch – in mid-2010 – to date. The model was on the list of ‘top ten’ best-selling cars in Italy throughout 2012.

The MiTo model was also enthusiastically welcomed by the public, and especially by a new generation of Alfisti, young customers, who were thus able to fulfil a dream: buy a sporty and safe car with distinctive style and technological content offered at an accessible price. The new interpretations of the Giulietta and MiTo confirm the ‘Alfa Romeo passion’ that Orazio Satta Puliga (1910-1974), one of the brand’s great designers, explained as follows: “Alfa Romeo is more than a mere car factory. In order to continue playing the starring role in its segment, the new Alfa Romeo Giulietta Model Year 2014 offers important innovations, starting with the new 150 HP 2.0 JTDM 2 complete with the second-generation MultiJet injection system. The engine is also equipped with a low inertia turbocharger whose efficiency and prompt response allow it to deliver the highest torque in its segment already at low speeds: 380 Nm at 1750 rpm. With this engine, the new car records top performance, with a top speed of 210 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.8 seconds. All this with very low fuel consumption and emissions: the figures recorded on the type-approval combined cycle were 4.2 litres of fuel per 100 km and just 110 g/km of CO2, respectively.

Even the style has been updated with an unprecedented front grille, the new chrome-plated frame of the fog lights and a number of 16”, 17” and 18” wheels. The colour range is more extensive now with three new body colours added: Moonlight Pearl, Anodizzato Blue and Bronze. New features are also found inside, like the steering wheel, seats and treatments for the dashboard, door panels and handles. The Giulietta Model Year 2014 also offers more technological features, such as the new Uconnect multimedia device with 5″ or 6.5″ touchscreen built into the dashboard. Both versions come with the Bluetooth interface, Aux-in connector, USB port and voice commands. What’s more, the 6.5″ device also has a satellite navigation system with 3D bird’s eye view maps, progressive route guidance and the ‘One Step Voice Entry Destination’ function for entering the address with voice commands.Both systems have been developed in collaboration with first-class partners: Harman and Here Auto for UConnect 6.5″ and Continental for UConnect 5″.

Depending on the countries where marketed, the new Giulietta Model Year 2014 range today consists of 5 trim levels – Impression, Progression, Distinctive, Exclusive and Quadrifoglio Verde – and 7 engines: the 1.4 TB 105 HP, 1.4 TB 120 HP, 1750 TBi 235 HP and 1.4 TB 170 HP (also with the Alfa TCT automatic transmission) petrol and the 1.6 JTDM 105 HP, 2.0 JTDM 170 HP and new 2.0 JTDM 2 150 HP turbodiesel. Completing the range is the dual-fuel (LPG and petrol) 1.4 TB 120 HP, a thrilling concentrate of power and technology that combines top performance with eco-friendliness and low running costs.

The MiTo MY 2014 revamps its technological image while maintaining its consolidated image as a sporty compact capable of winning over motorists attentive to Italian style and technological excellence for the pleasure of driving in complete safety. The exterior flaunts a new chrome-plated grille, the shade of Anthracite Grey and the burnished front light cluster finish. The interior is now even more refined with the debut of four upholstery options and three brand-new dashboards with specific trims according to the version.

Innovation is also found in the engines, with the new 0.9 Turbo TwinAir 105 HP that stands out with its sparkling personality – 105 HP (72 kW) at 5500 rpm and maximum torque of 145 Nm at 2000 rpm/min – and its low fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. The MiTo offers all that, but without forgoing performance, with a top speed of 184 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 11.4 seconds. And not forgetting its specific power of almost 120 HP/litre, a value on a par with sportier engines.

Furthermore, the Uconnect system with 5″ colour touchscreen is made by Continental, also available with navigation system developed with TomTom, is making its debut on the MiTo MY 2014. The new Alfa Romeo Giulietta Model Year 2014 will contribute to consolidating the outstanding sales performance the model has obtained so far: from mid-2010 to date, more than 217,000 units have been ordered worldwide.

New 150 HP 2.0 JTDM 2 engine

The new 150 HP 2.0 JTDM engine is making its first appearance with the 2014 range. It is equipped with the second-generation MultiJet injection system that both optimises engine combustion in all operating conditions and ensures reduction in fuel consumption and noise at the same time.

Using a small-sized turbocharger means delivering the highest torque in the category at low rpm (380 Nm at 1750 rpm) and maximum running flexibility. And that’s not all. Thus equipped, the new Alfa Romeo Giulietta Model Year 2014 records excellent performance: top speed of 210 km/h, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.8 seconds, 4.2 l/100 km of fuel consumption and 110 g/km of CO2 (in the combined cycle).

The heart of the 2.0 JTDM 2 engine is without a doubt the third generation Common Rail injection system that uses innovative injectors able to control the amount of diesel injected into the combustion chamber with utmost precision with a particularly quick and flexible injection sequence thanks to the balanced hydraulic servo valve.

More in detail, up to eight injections per stroke are possible together with strategies that optimise the increasingly advanced combustion, such as the Injection Rate Shaping (IRS) system which involves two consecutive injections so close together in time as to generate a continuous and modulated fuel supply into the cylinders. In this way the combustion process is improved, all to the benefit of quieter operation and reduced particulate and nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions. Furthermore, the new injection system is even simpler and more reliable because the injectors have a simpler structure with 40% fewer components.

Uconnect with 5″ or 6.5″ Radionav touchscreen

Designed to enrich the driving experience and perfectly integrated in the design of the car, the innovative Uconnect multimedia device is available with a 5″ or 6.5″ touch-screen with satellite navigation system and voice commands for easy control of several multimedia sources and outputs.

Both systems have been developed in collaboration with first-class partners: Harman and Here Auto for UConnect 6.5″ and Continental for UConnect 5″.

The Uconnect system lets you access all the main functions, from the analogue and digital radio (DAB) – in markets where the optional is sold – through to all the main multimedia resources (media player, iPod, iPhone, smartphone) which can be connected via USB port or Aux-in socket.

The system also includes an advanced Bluetooth interface to access extra functions, such as phone call management or reading received SMS text messages via text-to-speech technology, innovative Audio Streaming system that reproduces music files and web radio stations directly from a smartphone in streaming via Bluetooth on the UConnect device.

Finally, with the Uconnect Nav with 6.5″ touch-screen, the Alfa Romeo Giulietta MY 2014 customer can rely on the satellite navigation function with 3D bird’s eye view maps and progressive route guidance or the ‘One Step Voice entry Destination’ function for entering the destination address using voice commands. Exterior

Moonlight Pearl, Anodizzato Blue and Bronze: three new liveries to enhance the dynamic lines of a model that is a blend of sportiness and elegance. The new look of the front grille and the chrome-plated frame of the foglights renew its front. This is the starting point for the design of the entire car, which combines an energetic personality with a distinctly elegant form. The front headlights have DRL with LED technology and a day light function for maximum active safety. The innovative rear lights use LED technology in the same way, which serves not only a stylish purpose but also preventive safety.

Finally, the three new alloy wheels (16”, 17” and 18”) clearly highlight the profile of the new Alfa Romeo Giulietta Model Year 2014. The side windows recall the appearance of a coupé and emphasise the dynamism and fluidity of the shapes, thanks also to the concealed rear door handles. The ribs on the vehicle sides elongate the car while the clean lines which end at the rear accentuate the angular shape of the car body.

Interiors

Attention to detail and high quality materials chosen to represent the ultimate expression of Italian style. What particularly stand out are a new door panel and handle and the brand new insert on the central console and dashboard. All elements are treated with uniform scratch-proof paint and the trims are homogeneous in colour and materials. The result is a superior quality environment that welcomes passengers into a warm and enveloping atmosphere. The seats and steering wheel are new, too, and further highlight the perceived quality and on-board comfort.

In particular, making their début on the Quadrifoglio Verde version are the new specific sports seats upholstered in black leather/Alcantara with contrasting stitching with electro-welded logo on the backrest (also available on the QV Sportiva Pack). Now the Progression version offers the black/anthracite grey fabric, while the Giulietta Model Year 2014 Distinctive customer can choose between two colour combinations for the fabric upholstery: black/tobacco or anthracite grey. The Exclusive version comes with leather/fabric upholstery that can be in the shade of either black/anthracite grey or tobacco/anthracite grey. All the upholstery is available in top quality leather in the shades of red, tobacco or black on request.

Sporty design and a new form which refers to the Alfa Romeo grille also for the steering wheel, now characterised by an aluminium insert, black, white or red stitching – depending on the interiors and trim levels – and upholstery in top quality leather made with special foam that ensures a safe and immediate grip. Finally, the luggage compartment has been renewed with a specific black trim for the entire volume (bottom, sides and behind the rear seats). The storage compartment on the left of the steering wheel, the upper glove compartment on the dashboard and the USB port starting from today placed close to the DNA selector – so its use is more convenient and immediate – complete the new features inside the new Alfa Romeo Giulietta Model Year 2014.

The Giulietta has assumed a place in the tradition of the best Alfa Romeo models, drawing on its heritage of dynamic performance, without compromising on efficiency and convenience in everyday use. The secret behind this performance is continuous technological research, which finds its utmost expression in the Giulietta. The new architecture of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta was designed to integrate the vehicle’s different systems and exploit them to the full, thus emphasising the three set-up functions (Dynamic, Normal and All Weather) available through the Alfa DNA selector. The device, fitted as standard on the entire range, is designed to modify the operating parameters of the engine, gearbox, steering system and Q2 electronic differential, in addition to the behaviour logic of the ESC system.

Comfort, passenger room and greater soundproofing

Outstanding quality of construction impressive on every level for an excellent standard of comfort. The longitudinal and vertical filtering capacity of the suspension ensures high driving comfort while important technical refinements – such as specific interventions on bumpers, wheel arch, pedal unit and luggage compartment – make the Giulietta Model Year 2014 even quieter and more enjoyable to drive.

Comfort is another strong point: the quality of the materials used for the dashboard and the ergonomics of the interior space in general contribute to a great on-board experience. New 0.9 Turbo TwinAir 105 HP

The engine is the heart and at the same time the true strength of every Alfa Romeo model. And the Alfa Romeo MiTo Model Year 2014 is no exception: under its sporty line and strong personality, the new car offers an extensive range of superb engines, packed with the latest technology and bursting with performance, which are also environmentally-friendly. Not to mention the fact that Alfa Romeo power units are distinguished by their unmistakable Alfa Romeo sound that emphasises the unique nature of the car while complying fully with type approval constraints and environmental aspects.

One of the most important innovations of the MiTo MY 2014 is the new 105 HP 0.9 TwinAir distinguished by its dazzling personality and low fuel consumption. Combined with a six-speed manual gearbox and with the DNA selector in Dynamic position, the new engine delivers 105 HP (72 kW) at 5500 rpm and a peak torque of 145 Nm at 2000 rpm (ratings are 105 HP@5750 rpm and 120 Nm@1750 rpm, respectively, in Natural mode).

Furthermore, the 105 HP TwinAir is the best expression of eco-friendliness, as confirmed by its consumption and CO2 emissions, which are among the lowest in its class: 4.2 litres/100 km and 99 g/km on the type-approval combined cycle, respectively. Remarkably, emissions are so low that comply with the European standards of 2020 already today. In other words, the 105 HP TwinAir Turbo is comfortable, cost-effective, eco-friendly and never boring when it comes to performance: it clocks a top speed of 184 km/h and goes from 0 to 100 km/h in only 11.4 seconds, in addition to having a remarkable specific power of 120 HP/litre, which ranks it among the sportiest of engines.

The new TwinAir family engine combines the concept of downsizing (displacement and weight reduction) with sophisticated technologies, like supercharging with high-efficiency turbocharger, integration of the exhaust manifold in the cylinder head and the totally new MultiAir intake valve control system. With its unique intake cam profile, the MultiAir second generation further optimises thermodynamic efficiency of the engine by modulating the amount of exhaust gas recirculated in the combustion chamber (internal EGR).

The new 105 HP 0.9 TwinAir completes the range engines that consists of 2 turbodiesel engines – 85 HP 1.3 JTDM and 120 HP 1.6 JTDM (both updated in E5+) – and 5 petrol engines: 70 HP 1.4, 78 HP 1.4, 135 HP 1.4 MultiAir Turbo Petrol (with manual gearbox or Alfa TCT automatic transmission) and the 170 HP 1.4 MultiAir Turbo Petrol. The engine range also includes the 120 HP 1.4 LPG Turbo, a superb concentration of power and technology, which combines top-notch performance, environmental-friendliness and low running costs. New drivers can choose the 70 HP 1.4 and the 78 HP 1.4 petrol engines or the 85 HP 1.3 Jtdm diesel version.

Style

The new MiTo Model Year 2014 revamps its technological image while maintaining its consolidated image as a sporty compact capable of winning over motorists who demand care for details, Italian style and technical excellence for total safety driving style.

The 2014 range introduces some important new style features, starting from the new redesigned grille completed by a chrome-plated frame to create a family feeling with the Giulietta, making the front of the car look more streamlined. Other new features are the Anthracite Grey body colour and the burnished finish of the front light clusters that characterise all trim levels.

The interiors are even more sophisticated, now with four new upholstery combinations to choose from: two new Evoluzione fabrics (Black/Titanium or Black/Red) for Distinctive, the QV Sportiva pack with a new sporty seat and white inserts (available for Distinctive only) and the new Heritage Black fabric with electrically welded Alfa Romeo badge for the Quadrifoglio Verde.

Innovations also in the dashboard portfolio: Street with specific black version for Impression, Progression and QV Sportiva; and Evoluzione – two dashboard designs, both shaded (grey-black or black-red) for Distinctive.

Infotainment

The multimedia device is made by Continental and based on Uconnect, the next-generation infotainment platform concept, is debuting on MiTo Model Year 2014 to reconfirm the technology ambassador spirit that characterised the car’s first steps.

Available with or without integrated navigation system developed with TomTom, the device features a 5″ colour touchscreen for accessing many functions, the radio and the multimedia devices (media player, iPod, iPhone, smartphone) connectable via USB port and the Aux-in connector.

The system also includes an advanced Bluetooth interface to access extra functions, such as phone call management or reading received SMS text messages via text-to-speech technology, innovative Audio Streaming system that reproduces music files and web radio stations directly from a smartphone in streaming via Bluetooth on the UConnect device.

By choosing the version with integrated navigation you have the opportunity to enjoy additional new features: in addition to the built-in navigation developed in collaboration with TomTom® (with voice recognition), the system will be equipped with GPS system, IQ Routes® (which calculates the best route based on the real average speeds measured on the roads) and Infotraffic system with real time updates.

Safety

The Alfa Romeo MiTo was designed to obtain the maximum score in passive and active safety tests. In short, total protection making it one of the safest cars in the field of motoring, as demonstrated by the prestigious five Euro NCAP stars.The new car offers, as standard on the entire range, the most sophisticated electronic devices for maximum dynamic vehicle control (from braking to traction) implemented to increase dynamic limits even further, non-intrusive to the driver, but affording all-round safety.

In addition to a braking system affording excellent performance levels, the Alfa Romeo MiTo Model Year 2014 is equipped with the ABS anti-lock braking system, one of the most sophisticated currently available, complete with electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD). Other functions include the electronic stability (ESC) and traction (ASR) control systems, the hydraulic brake assistance for emergency braking system (HBA), assisted hill start system (HILL HOLDER), the system that controls engine braking when the accelerator pedal is released (MSR) and the Cornering Brake Control (CBC) system. The extensive range is completed by the Alfa Q2 – the electronic system reproducing the action of a self-locking differential – and Alfa Active Steering, the ‘active electronic steering’ that prompts the driver to correct oversteering on poor-grip surfaces through a light impulse on the steering wheel.

The Alfa Romeo MiTo MY 2014 is one of the safest cars in its segment and also in the field of motoring as a whole. The new model represents the state-of-the-art as far as passive safety is concerned. Total protection, in short, as evidenced by seven airbags as standard (two of which Multistage), three-point seatbelts with pretensioners and load limiters, an anti-whiplash device built into the backrest on the front seats, 5 warning lights displayed on a small screen to inform the driver whether the seat belts of all the passengers are securely fastened, and LED rear lights to improve the visibility of the car. Not to mention the contribution to occupant protection made by the body, the bonnet, the doors and the dashboard crossmember in addition to the seats and steering column, that have been designed with a view to their behaviour in the event of an accident.

2014 range

The 2014 range today marketed in Italy features five trim levels (Impression, Progression, Distinctive, Superbike and Quadrifoglio Verde), and ten body colours, including the new Anthracite Grey. Contrasting roof and mirror fairings are also available for the Superbike version. The outstanding customisation level of the MiTo is reasserted once again with ten different alloy rim patterns, including the new 15” Silver Style rims for the Impression trim level.

Depending on the version, customers can choose from a wide range of engines – all efficient, reliable and eco-friendly: 70 HP 1.4, 78 HP 1.4, 135 HP 1.4 MultiAir Turbo Petrol (with manual gearbox or Alfa TCT automatic transmission), 170 HP 1.4 MultiAir Turbo Petrol, 105 HP 0.9 Turbo TwinAir, 85 HP 1.3 JTDM, 120 HP 1.6 JTDM and 120 HP 1.4 LPG Turbo.
