Η Ford στο Goodwood τον Ιούλιο θα παρουσιάσει το FF1, την έκδοση δρόμου του Formula Ford, ώστε να ανταγωνιστεί τα Ariel Atom και BAC Mono. Το FF1 φορά τον 1.00αρη τρικύλινδρο Ecoboost κινητήρα και έχει τελική ταχύτητα 257 χλμ/ώρα. Στο Nurburgring γυρνά σε 7:22, κάνοντας

καλύτερο χρόνο από αυτόν που έχουν σημειώσει τα Lamborghini Aventador, Ferrari Enzo και Pagani Zonda, έχοντας ωστόσο μέση κατανάλωση μόλις 2,8 λίτρα/100 χλμ.

Η Ford δεν ανακοίνωσε επίσημα τα πόσα άλογα βγάζει ο 1.00αρης Ecoboost κινητήρας, αλλά οι φήμες τον θέλουν να αποδίδει 205 άλογα, με τα 0-100 χλμ/ώρα να τα κάνει σε 4,5 δευτερόλεπτα. Στο Goodwood, μαζί με το FF1, η Ford θα πάει τόσο το Fiesta ST όσο και αρκετά GT 40.

Στις σχετικές ειδήσεις η Ford Ευρώπης θα αναγκαστεί να πληρώσει περισσότερα από 580 εκατ. ευρώ, έτσι ώστε να κλείσει το εργοστάσιο της στο Genk. Η Ford Ευρώπης αναμένει φέτος να χάσει 1,55 δις ευρώ, με τον πιο ακριβοπληρωμένο CEO των αυτοκινητοβιομηχανιών, Alan Mulally, να έχει πάρει την απόφαση να προχωρήσει στο κλείσιμο τριών εργοστασίων της Μπλε Οβάλ εταιρίας στην Ευρώπη, έτσι ώστε να γίνει κερδοφόρα.

FORD AT THE 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF GOODWOOD

Brentwood, Essex, 20 March, 2013 – Ford’s FF1, a Formula Ford-inspired 1.0-litre track car will make its public debut in the UK at the 20th Goodwood Festival of Speed, taking place from July 11-14.

The three-cylinder EcoBoost-powered FF1 sits side-by-side with some of the world’s most exotic supercars following its astonishing pace around Germany’s famed Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit. The single-seat, road-legal car with a top speed of almost 160mph, completed a lap in 7min 22sec to register the 11th fastest time ever on the circuit putting it ahead of 600+ horsepower supercars such as the Lamborghini Aventador, Ferrari Enzo and Pagani Zonda. No other three- or even four-cylinder car has posted a faster time at the legendary circuit.

Driven differently, the featherweight super-efficient FF1 is capable of over 100mpg without modification, proving that high performance and fuel economy need not be mutually exclusive.

The FF1 will tackle the famous Goodwood hillclimb and it will also be on display in the FoS-TECH area during the Festival. It has become the UK’s leading exhibition promoting state-of-the-art green and environmentally friendly technologies as well as looking into the future of transportation.

In addition, Ford will be showcasing the all-new and highly-acclaimed Fiesta ST at the Moving Motor Show on Thursday 11 July. The Moving Motor Show is a preview day for the Festival of Speed and allows car enthusiasts the chance to see the industry’s latest models, with manufacturers using the famous Goodwood Hill to demonstrate their newest products.

Legendary Ford GT40 models from the company’s UK heritage collection will take part in the Goodwood Revival on September 13-15. They will be supporting the 50th anniversary of the start of development of the classic endurance racer. This will be celebrated at the Revival with a unique all-Ford GT40 race. The Whitsun Trophy race will be the first time in history that a dedicated competition has ever been held for these iconic Ford racers.

Ford is a founding supporter of the Goodwood Festival of Speed and Revival and will be fully represented at both these prestigious events in July and September. On its 20th anniversary, the Festival of Speed will be celebrating some of the best elements of the event’s highly successful history.
