Rolls-Royce Motor Cars is proud to present the only Art Deco Ghost Extended Wheelbase of its kind in Hong Kong for the first time. Finished in a stunning powder blue, the Art Deco Ghost Extended Wheelbase is one of a 35 car Limited Edition Collection, but with a totally unique exterior colour. The bespoke Art Deco Collection car has been built for Hong Kong in response to a growing interest and demand for specially commissioned cars.
The Art Deco Collection car takes inspiration from one of the defining movements of the 20th century – in homage to the 1925 Paris Exhibition or Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes that gave the movement its name. Art Deco was a style that employed futuristic crystallised motifs referencing Greek classicism and Egyptian relics mixed with the dynamic of the age of the machine and streamlined automotive liberation. Its influence has extended to disciplines such as architecture, automotive design, marketing, ceramics and furniture-making.
The special Art Deco Ghost Extended Wheelbase in Hong Kong has a black and Arctic white interior that hints at the visual language of the movement while a suite of Art Deco-inspired interior detailing points to the creativity, skill and attention to detail employed by Rolls-Royce craftspeople.
“We are delighted to present the one and only powder blue Art Deco Ghost Extended Wheelbase in Hong Kong. This cosmopolitan city has a flourishing art scene and, for years, has been successfully synthesising culture, technology and art, much like how the Art Deco Collection has been created. We wanted to ensure that this Art Deco car had an exterior that is attractive yet subtle, complemented by an interior that is simple yet indulgent at the same time thanks to fine details inspired by the Art Deco movement,” comments Dan Balmer, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, General Manager for Asia Pacific.
Samuel Sun, General Manager for Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Hong Kong, added, “Hong Kong customers have always been very discerning, continuously exploring new ways to make their Rolls-Royce unique and reflective of themselves. Only Rolls-Royce’s unrivalled craftsmanship and Bespoke programme can provide the level of personalisation that make the cars as unique as their owners fingerprints. The success of cars like the Year of the Dragon Collection has shown that our clients in Hong Kong are connoisseurs who appreciate Limited Edition Collection cars.”
Art Deco on Ghost Extended Wheelbase
The usual Rolls-Royce attention to detail on the Ghost Extended Wheelbase Art Deco car for Hong Kong makes for a stunning car. At the front, the car has a unique, illuminated Spirit of Ecstasy, with Art Deco coachline on the sides, contrasting with a smooth powder blue exterior. The black leather interior is complemented by powder blue seat piping, which contrasts with Art Deco embroidery on the headrests. An interior with Art Deco inlays within piano black wood creates a highly polished and luxurious finish, with a look and feel similar to piano lacquering. Specially-themed treadplates add to a highly desirable Rolls-Royce motor car.
Art Deco and Hong Kong
Hong Kong reputably had numerous Art Deco buildings that were constructed between the 1920s and 1960s. A forward-thinking ideology, Art Deco was applied in residential buildings as well as healthcare and education institutions. These Art Deco facilities demonstrate the cultural influence from the West that was brought into Hong Kong through trading between Europe and Hong Kong during the 1920s. Once the tallest building in Hong Kong, the old Bank of China building is one of the Art Deco buildings that still stands today.
