Είναι επίσημο πλέον. Η Rolls-Royce θα λανσάρει SUV

Έπειτα από αρκετό καιρό “ναι, όχι, ίσως”, η Rolls-Royce κατέληξε στο θέμα του SUV. Σε ένα ανοιχτό γράμμα, ο Πρόεδρος, Peter Schwarzenbauer και ο CEO, Torsten Mueller-Oetvoes της Rolls-Royce, ανακοίνωσαν πως για την πρώτη φορά στην 111ετή ιστορία της, η Αγγλική φίρμα θα λανσάρει στην αγορά ένα SUV.

Για την ακρίβεια, όχι ακριβώς ένα SUV αφού οι δύο άντρες

απέφυγαν εντέχνως να χρησιμοποιήσουν τη συγκεκριμένη λέξη, αλλά ένα “υπερυψωμένο αυτοκίνητο” που θα μπορεί να “κινηθεί σε κάθε έδαφος”. Δεν ξέρω γιατί δεν αναφέρεται η λέξη crossover ή SUV πουθενά λες και είναι κάποιου είδους μίασμα, αλλά ένα υπερυψωμένο όχημα που κινείται παντού, είναι ακριβώς αυτό…

Τα υψηλόβαθμα στελέχη αναφέρουν στην επιστολή ότι η απόφαση για την προσθήκη αυτού του μοντέλου στην γκάμα της RR, επηρεάστηκε σημαντικά από τις προτροπές πολλών εκ των πελατών της και τονίζουν ότι το crossover θα προσφέρει την πολυτέλεια για την οποία είναι γνωστή η εταιρία και ότι θα έχει “εξαιρετική παρουσία, κομψότητα και σκοπό”. Αξίζει τέλος να αναφέρουμε ότι το νέο αυτό όχημα της Rolls-Royce θα βασίζεται σε μία ολοκαίνουρια, αλουμινένια πλατφόρμα.

“Όταν κάτι δεν υπάρχει, σχεδίασε το” έλεγε ο Sir Henry Royce και όπως λένε οι ισχυροί άντρες της RR, “κάνουμε ακριβώς αυτό”.

Many discerning customers have urged us to develop this new car – and we have listened. At Rolls-Royce Motor Cars we are uniquely focused on the desires of our customers and are driven by our own thirst to innovate. So we challenged our engineers and design team, led by Director of Design Giles Taylor, to create a different and exceptional new car.

This car will embody all the values and capabilities that drove our two Founding Fathers to secure Rolls-Royce’s reputation, early last century, by taking top honours in rigorous overland adventures such as the Scottish Reliability Trials, the London to Edinburgh event and the Alpine Trials.

Rolls-Royces conveyed pioneers and adventurers like Lawrence of Arabia across the vastness of unexplored deserts and over mountain ranges.
