Η Audi παρουσίασε μια king size λιμουζίνα, η οποία βασίζεται στο A8 L. Οι διαστάσεις της επιμηκυμένης έκδοσης του αυτοκινήτου ανέρχονται στα 6,36 μέτρα μήκος, με το μεταξόνιο να αυξάνεται κατά 1,09 μέτρα και φτάνει τα 4,22 μέτρα, κάτι που έχει ως αποτέλεσμα στο εσωτερικό να φιλοξενούνται 6 επιβάτες στις τρεις σειρές καθισμάτων.

Σύμφωνα με την εταιρία οι μεγαλύτερες προκλήσεις ήταν η ασφάλεια και η στιβαρότητα

του πλαισίου, καθώς και ο σχεδιασμός του XXL αυτοκινήτου, όπου από την εμπρός κολόνα και πίσω υπάρχουν αλλαγές στη σιλουέτα του.

Όπως και το απλό A8, έτσι και εδώ όλο το σώμα είναι φτιαγμένο από αλουμίνιο, όμως υπάρχουν ενισχύσεις στο κεντρικό τούνελ και στην οροφή, ενώ ένα διπλό τοίχωμα διαχωρίζει το χώρο των επιβατών με τον αντίστοιχο των αποσκευών.

Οι προσθήκες αυτές κάνουν την στρεπτική ακαμψία της extended έκδοσης να είναι σχεδόν ίδια με αυτή του A8 L. Στο εσωτερικό, οι έξι επιβάτες κάθονται προς την ίδια κατεύθυνση, με τον κάθε επιβάτη να να απολαμβάνει προνόμια πρώτης θέσης.

Μηχανικά το A8 L extended εξοπλίζεται με τον 3-λιτρο TFSI κινητήρα απόδοσης 310 ίππων και 440 Nm ροπής, με επιτάχυνση 0-100 χλμ/ώρα σε 7,1 δευτ. και τελική ταχύτητα στα 250 χλμ/ώρα, ενώ συνδυάζεται με το 8-τάχυτο αυτόματο Τiptronic κιβώτιο ταχυτήτων, που στέλνει τη δύναμη σε όλους τους τροχούς. Τέλος, για την επιβράδυνση του 2.418 κιλών αμαξώματος φροντίζουν τα φρένα του S8, τα οποία “κρύβονται” πίσω από τις 19άρες ζάντες.

The Audi A8 L extended benefits from the lightweight body of the production model, which is designed in Audi Space Frame and almost completely made of aluminum. In the special design, the engineers extended the side skirts and the transmission tunnel by extruded aluminum profiles. In the tunnel, these are also used for air circulation. A double rear wall separates the passenger compartment from the luggage compartment; roof integrated additional aluminum extrusions and cross-ties. Through these measures, the torsional and bending stiffness is almost at the level of the A8 L *.

The representative XXL sedan in a discreet Moonlight Blue metallic exceeds the long-wheelbase version of the Audi A8 in wheelbase and length to each 1.09 meters. In order to ensure a smooth course of the roofline, the entire body of the A-pillar to be revised.

In the roofing experts have used a 2.40-meter-long glass: It ensures an even better sense of space. The sun blinds – there is a respective blind per seat row – prevent the interior heats up in strong sunlight. This accelerates the saloon in 7.1 seconds from 0 to 100 km / h and reaches an electronically limited top speed of 250 km / h. An eight-speed tiptronic transfers the forces to the permanent all-wheel drive quattro. Behind the 19-inch wheels of 15-spoke design sits the brake system of the Audi S8 *, which delayed the more than six meters long luxury sedan confidently with its curb weight of 2418 kg.
