Βελτίωση Dodge Viper ACR δια χειρός GeigerCars

25 χρόνια μετά την πρώτη παρουσίασή του της Dodge Viper συνεχίζει να προκαλεί δέος. Είναι ίσως το πιο μυώδες, κτηνώδες θα μπορούσες να πεις, σύγχρονο αυτοκίνητο κι ας μην έχει τις απόλυτες ιπποδυνάμεις άλλων. Είναι ίσως η έκφραση “bigger is better” σε 4 τροχούς. Γι’αυτό και κανείς δεν είδε παράλογη την περαιτέρω βελτίωσή του. Εν προκειμένω το πακέτο αναβάθμισης της Dodge Viper

ACR προέρχεται από τον γερμανικό οίκο GeigerCars και δεν απευθύνεται σε αυτούς που οι 645 ίπποι του απλού ACR τους φαίνονται λίγοι, αλλά σε αυτούς που θέλουν κάτι ακόμη πιο ξεχωριστό, ακόμη πιο παράλογο, γιατί από αυτά τα νούμερα και πάνω οι ακριβείς αριθμοί παίζουν μικρό ρόλο και εμφανίζονται κυρίως σε… άρθρα.

Τις νέες ζάντες και το αεροδυναμικό πακέτο, που περιλαμβάνει splitter, νέο διαχύτη και μερικά ακόμη μικρά βοηθήματα, μπορείς να το δεις στις εικόνες, εγώ θα σου πω για το μοτέρ. Εδώ έγιναν αρκετές αλλαγές. Οι βαλβίδες εισαγωγής μεγάλωσαν στα 56,261 χιλιοστά, φαντάσου σχεδόν 6 εκατοστά βαλβίδα! Στο κέντρο του V ένας νέος εκκεντροφόρος θα οδηγεί τις εν λόγο βαλβίδες. Εδώ να σημειώσω πως ο V10 της Viper ακολουθεί την κλασσική αγγλοσαξωνική συνταγή με τον εκκεντροφόρο “στο υπόγειο” και όχι επικεφαλής. Ένας εκκεντροφόρος για όλες τις βαλβίδες λοιπόν, το τόνισα γιατί από αυτή την πλευρά του Ατλαντικού θεωρούμε δεδομένο να τον συναντάμε επί της κεφαλής. Στην λίστα αυτών που αλλάχθηκαν ακολουθούν τα ενισχυμένα υδραυλικά ωστήρια, τα διπλά ελατήρια βαλβίδων και κλείσαμε μοτέρ. Έπειτα αλλάχτηκε όλη η εξαγωγή, δηλαδή πολλαπλή, καταλύτες, τελικά και με μια καλή χαρτογράφηση, το δυναμόμετρο έδειξε 120 επιπλέον ίππους φτάνοντας στους 765!

Αν όλα αυτά σου άνοιξαν την όρεξη, να αναφέρω την τιμή. Με 40.775 ευρώ το πακέτο είναι δικό σου, δεδομένου ότι έχεις Viper ACR. Αν πάλι δεν έχεις Viper, η GeigerCars έχει μεριμνήσει και σου το παρέχει έτοιμο βελτιωμένο έναντι του ποσού των 219.000 ευρώ.

A general conversation about American sports car legends often starts with the sleek Corvette, or iconic pony cars like the Ford Mustang, before moving on to the Dodge Viper, a relative youngster in US Muscle Car folklore.

Named after a poisonous snake, the Viper’s standout feature is its powerhouse 8.4 litre V10 motor. With 645 hp out of the box, this engine needs no further tuning for life in the street-legal Club Racing spec Viper ACR.

While this highly focused Viper flagship model has been available from GeigerCars.de for several months, the Munich-based US car specialist now offers a comprehensive tuning package that includes an uprated engine and forged alloy wheels. Thus converted, the 765 hp GeigerCars Viper ACR is a totally uncompromising supercar for both road and track.

Karl Geiger and his team extracted the extra 111 hp from the giant 8.4-liter V10 engine using classic naturally aspirated tuning – ported and polished cylinder heads, larger 2.215-inch diameter intake valves, high-lift camshaft, uprated hydraulic lifters, pushrods, and double valve springs.

Various other upgrades for the drivetrain of the ACR come from the GeigerCars Viper tuning programme. These include the exhaust headers, 200-cell Sports catalytic converters and a stainless steel sports exhaust system for reduced backpressure and a thoroughbred racecar soundtrack.

Finally, the ECU is remapped to make full use of the new hardware, and a rolling road dyno chart is supplied with the conversion as proof of the enhanced power output.

In order to ensure reliability and longevity of the engine in hard track use, GeigerCars installed a more efficient engine oil cooler. The rear axle also gains an oil cooler system, which includes an electric pump.

The ‘Extreme Aero Package’ is designed to improve downforce at high-speeds and includes a large front air splitter, twin dive flaps for the front apron and a rear diffuser. To reduce unsprung weight, GeigerCars offer forged alloy wheels in 11.0 and 13.0 x 19-inch sizes, including tyre pressure sensors.

The price of the GeigerCars conversion for the Viper ACR is 40,775 euro including tax. The GeigerCars Viper ACR including the “Extreme Aero Package” is available as a complete car from 219,000 euro.
