47 forest fires blazed across Greece in 24 hours

In the past 24 hours, 47 forest and rural fires have blazed across Greece, according to the firefighting service. Immediate response was provided to 32 of these incidents, while firefighting forces are currently tackling 15 others.

Sources from Civil Protection highlight that 11 of these fires were particularly dangerous, necessitating aerial support to swiftly contain them before they threatened residential areas and

large forested areas.

Currently active fires are reported in Kilkis and Soufli, with scattered outbreaks being managed by firefighting units in Ano Akria Heraklion, as confirmed by Civil Protection sources.

Local investigative offices along with teams from the Arson Crimes Division are examining the causes behind these fire outbreaks.

Firefighting service urges all citizens to exercise caution and strictly follow the instructions of authorities in case of fire.
