Athens Murder Linked to Piraeus Supermarket Killing, Police Investigate Possible Organized Crime Network

The recent murder of a 39-year-old Turkish man in Athens may be connected to a deadly incident in a Piraeus supermarket this past June, according to Greek homicide investigators. 

Both cases involved Turkish nationals, and police are exploring the possibility of a shared modus operandi and an organized

crime link.

The victim, who was killed late Tuesday night, was reportedly a key figure in Greece's drug trade. Investigators are currently reviewing security footage that shows at least two suspects fleeing the scene on foot. 

They believe the suspects may have later escaped in a vehicle.

Adding to the complexity of the case, the victim had a prior arrest in Greece in 2022 following an Interpol Red Notice issued by Turkey on drug trafficking charges. He was released without extradition and reportedly left Greece before returning at a later date.

Authorities are working to uncover any connections between this murder and the June incident in Piraeus. They are also investigating the broader network of Turkish nationals involved in drug and human trafficking in Greece.
