Deputy Foreign Minister quits

Deputy Foreign Minister Kostas Fragogiannis is expected to submit his resignation to Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis today after five and a half years in office. The decision, attributed to personal reasons, was communicated to the Prime Minister several weeks ago and has been met with full understanding and respect.

The official

announcement was delayed due to Mr. Fragogiannis’ critical role in recent diplomatic engagements. His participation in the trilateral Greece-Egypt-Cyprus meeting in Cairo on January 8 and the Greece-Saudi Arabia High-Level Cooperation Council earlier this week was deemed essential for the successful completion of key investment and business initiatives.

According to sources, his position will be assumed by Tasos Chatzivasileiou, a Member of Parliament for the ruling New Democracy party and the party’s Secretary of International Relations. Mr. Fragogiannis leaves behind a legacy of significant contributions to Greece’s economic diplomacy and international outreach.
