Greek, Turkish Foreign Ministers Discuss Cooperation Ahead of High-Level Council

Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis and his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan held a phone conversation to address regional and international developments and to finalize preparations for the upcoming Greece-Turkey High-Level Cooperation Council.

The meeting is set to take place in Ankara between late February and early March, according to the Greek

Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This dialogue marks another step in ongoing efforts to improve relations between the two neighboring nations, which have historically faced tensions over issues such as territorial rights and migration.

The scheduled council meeting aims to strengthen collaboration across various sectors.

Recent diplomatic initiatives include the seventh round of discussions under the Positive Agenda, held in Athens last December, focusing on economic and trade cooperation. Additionally, a Political Dialogue meeting saw both sides commit to fostering closer ties.

The renewed diplomatic momentum reflects a broader effort to address long-standing disputes and build a foundation for sustained cooperation. Both governments appear committed to exploring areas of mutual interest, signaling a cautious but constructive approach to bilateral relations.
