Mitsotakis showcases government achievements, future plans

In his final weekly review of the summer, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis highlighted the significant actions and future plans of his government.

Emphasizing both "large" and "small" achievements over the past seven months, Mr. Mitsotakis provided a detailed overview of a period marked by substantial governmental progress and major events.

"We

have fulfilled 42% of our commitments for this year, implementing 29 reforms and 25 major public investments," Mr. Mitsotakis announced.

"We said we would do it, and we did it." Among the key achievements, he highlighted:

The recovery of the investment-grade ratingIncreases in the minimum and average wages, as well as pensionsThe reinstatement of three-year salary incrementsNew support measures for families, young couples, and studentsInitiatives addressing housing and the country’s demographic challengesPrioritization of 6,500 hires in the National Health System (NHS)The introduction of a new digital school systemThe reorganization of Civil Protection, showing visible results under challenging climatic conditions

Looking ahead to the fall, Mr. Mitsotakis announced plans for new legislative initiatives to address pressing daily challenges more effectively. The government aims to accelerate its efforts to achieve 100% of its commitments, incorporating 58 new projects and 87 new reforms.

"These new legislative initiatives will commence in the fall," Mr. Mitsotakis said. "As you know, Parliament is on a short recess, and the political staff needs a few days of rest in August. However, this does not mean that our work stops, even in the heart of summer, because everyday problems do not take vacations."
