Salamina Shipyards Secures Major Contract to Support Greek Navy Frigates

Salamina Shipyards has signed a significant six-year contract with France's Naval Group to provide maintenance and upgrade services for the Greek Navy's new FDI Belharra frigates.

The agreement, finalized at the EURONAVAL 2024 expo in Paris, marks a major step

forward for Greece's naval capabilities and its defense industry.

The contract covers a wide range of services, including hull and superstructure repairs, system maintenance, and future modifications for the advanced frigates.

Dr. Georgios Koros, CEO of Salamina Shipyards, expressed pride in the company's expanding role in the FDI program.

"This new contract affirms Salamina’s ability to meet the highest quality standards in demanding, high-tech projects," Dr. Koros said. "Our participation in the FDI program is a milestone for Greece’s shipbuilding industry."

This agreement builds on Salamina Shipyards' existing involvement in the FDI program, which includes constructing key sections for both Greek and French frigates.

The shipyard has already delivered hull sections for the third Greek frigate and components for a French vessel.

Under the new contract, Salamina Shipyards will manufacture up to five key components per frigate for a fleet of six FDI vessels.

This involves cutting, welding, assembling, and aligning essential systems, as well as fabricating specialized equipment like the primary gun mount and helicopter hangar.

This expanded partnership strengthens Greece's position in the international defense industry and highlights the expertise of Salamina Shipyards in advanced naval manufacturing.
