Syriza No-Confidence Bid Stalls in Greece

Syriza's effort to launch a no-confidence vote against the Greek government has stalled, lacking enough support in parliament.

Syriza parliamentary leader Sokratis Famellos has been talking with other opposition parties to reach the 50 signatures needed to trigger the motion. He secured commitments from Alexis Charitsis and Zoe

Konstantopoulou to co-sign, but their parties combined have only 43 lawmakers.

Communist party leader Dimitris Koutsoumbas told Famellos his party will vote for the motion but won't co-sign the request.

Syriza argues Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis's recent interview justifies a no-confidence vote and should be held immediately.

The party criticized Pasok for wanting to wait for an official report before deciding. Syriza believes quick action is needed to stop the government from controlling the political agenda.

The push comes amid rising tensions in parliament as opposition parties look for ways to challenge the ruling New Democracy party.
