“Paradise: Faith” by Ulrich Seidl / Venice 2012 review

The second installment of the “Love-Faith-Hope” trilogy paints the portrait of a religious zealot, in love with Jesus and determined to bring the Catholic faith back to Austria. Although the imagery is just as relentless as ever, steeped in buckets of pitch black humor, the harshness of “Paradise: Faith” is almost too much to bear and the film ends up feeling a little too detached for its own good.
