SYRIZA leader Tsipras visits Cephalonia island

Tsipras was briefed by Deputy Regional Governor Sotiris Kouris, who announced that a cruise ship will arrive in Cephalonia on Thursday to accommodate 900 people whose houses were damaged by the earthquakes. Deputy Regional Governor for education Christos Anthis, the heads of the security forces and Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE) president Christos Spirtzis were also in the briefing.

The SYRIZA leader underlined that a difficult task is being performed and congratulated those participating in the relief effort.

Later, Tsipras will visit the town of Lixouri that suffered extensive damages. He will visit the local sports center, temporarily housing earthquake victims and the elderly from an old people’s home that was severely damaged, the Vocational Training Lyceum and the town’s road infrastructure.
