Uninsured work slows down, Labour Minister says

The Greek Corps of Labour Inspectors imposed fines of 9.22 million euros for uninsured work from September 15 to December 31, according to an announcement on Tuesday.
“The targeted controls for uninsured work carried out mainly in sectors and activities with high infringement rates show that the recorded uninsured work presents strong disinflation trends after the implementation

of the Artemis project,” Labour Minister Yiannis Vroutsis said.
“While in February 2013 the percentage of uninsured work had reached 40.47 percent, it was reduced to 20.57 percent in November and fell further to 18.95 percent in December,” he added.
Vroutsis said that it is the first time that such an organized and systematic effort as the Artemis project is being made in Greece to combat uninsured work. “We have established the highest fines ever imposed on uninsured work, which are imposed on the spot and without delays or bureaucratic procedures,” he noted.
