Psych Hub Veteran Mental Health Resources
Military personnel are known for their resilience, but after active duty, they may experience an inside battle of substance use, suicidal behavior or other mental health concerns. Veterans’ mental health statistics are startling.
According to VA’s Office of Mental Health and Suicide Prevention, more than 1.7 million Veterans received treatment in a VA mental health specialty program in FY 2017.
The Institute
In addition, the Office of Mental Health and Suicide Prevention reported that an average of 16.8 Veterans die by suicide per day. That’s more than 6,100 Veterans annually.
And the issue doesn’t just impact Veterans; in turn, military children and spouses reported emotional difficulties due to long lengths of deployment and mental health concerns.
Psych Hub plays an active role in providing education for those that may be reluctant to seek help after war’s invisible wounds.
