Greece Celebrates World Wine Tourism Day with Open Wineries and Special Events

Greece is joining the global celebration of World Wine Tourism Day this Sunday, November 10th, by opening the doors of its renowned wineries to visitors. From vineyard tours and tastings to unique cultural experiences, there's something for everyone to enjoy.

Sunday, 26 wineries across Northern Greece will offer free entry as part of the Wines of Northern Greece network. Visitors can create their own "wine route" along eight distinctive paths, each offering guided tours, tastings of new and aged wines, and insights into the unique qualities of this year's grape harvest.

In the Peloponnese, Ktima Skoura in Nemea will celebrate local flavors with freshly baked bread, new olive oil, aged cheese, and a selection of fine wines.

Ktima Semeli offers a complete wine tourism experience, including guided tours of its production areas, tastings, and cellar visits.

For a more intimate setting, Ktima Mega Spileo will introduce its latest sparkling wine, Mystic Rose, alongside guided tastings.

In Northern Greece, visitors can explore dedicated wine trails like the "Wine Route of the Olympian Gods" at Ktima Katsarou in Olympus, or the "Wine Route of Epirus" with stops at Zoinos Winery in Zitsa and Katogi Averoff in Metsovo.

Ktima Voyatzi on the "Wine Route of the Lakes" will host a special wine-and-chocolate workshop.

Other wineries across Greece are also joining the festivities. Ktima Alpha will offer tastings of aged wines, while Ktima Gerovassiliou will host a "Vine Hiking" experience in Epanomi, Thessaloniki.

Ktima Pavlidis in Drama will present a masterclass on white wine aging, and Nico Lazaridi will host a vertical tasting. Ktima Apostoli in Serres will combine wine culture with charity, donating proceeds to children's health organizations.

To add to the excitement, a photography contest invites visitors to capture the essence of wine-making during their visits. Share your photos with #winetourism24 for a chance to win wines from Wines of Northern Greece.

World Wine Tourism Day is a wonderful opportunity to discover the beauty of Greece's vineyards, sample exquisite wines, and immerse yourself in the rich culture of Greek viticulture.
