Prison clashes leave one dead

Clashes that broke out between bands of incarcerated criminals in Greece’s maximum security prison, have left one inmate dead and another injured, authorities have said

The clash erupted between two groups of Albanian prisoners in Ko.rydallos, Greece’s Maximum Security prison.

The inmates refused to enter their cells, claiming that the heat

was unbearable.

According to police sources, one group of hardened criminals urged the other to return to their cells due to the sweltering conditions.

Still, tensions flared,spiralling out of control with the assailant taking a knife and stabbing the victim.

He was as an Albanian repeat offender known as T.Z. He has since then confessed to authorities tostabbing his 35-year-old fellow inmate, also an Albanian.

Investigations revealed that the victim and the confessed assailant were acquainted, having previously escaped together.

Authorities also recovered the kitchen knife used in the murder.

In 2011, the assailant used the same method to kill his father and infant sibling in Kalamata.

Authorities identified his latest vicitim as Alphonse Dotsi, who, in 2015, killed a businessman during a robbery in Western Attica.

The businessman was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head inside a warehouse in Eleusis.
