Labour Min Kerameus launches expansion of digital work card to food service and tourism sectors

Minister of Labour and Social Security Niki Kerameus convened a meeting to discuss the expansion of the Digital Work Card to food service and tourism sectors on Wednesday. The meeting included representatives from the Hellenic Confederation of Professionals, Craftsmen and Merchants (GSEVEE), the Panhellenic Federation of Workers in Food

Service and Tourism (POEET) and the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE).

Kerameus announced that the pilot implementation of the Digital Work Card in the tourism and the food service sectors will begin in September. She emphasized that businesses will be given adequate time to adjust, address issues and resolve them.

Additionally, Kerameus revealed that online webinars and informational activities will be organized in collaboration with worker and employer representatives across various regions of Greece.

Kerameus also highlighted the importance of the Digital Work Card in ensuring accurate recording of working hours to protect workers' rights and improve transparency in inspections by the Labor Inspectorate, aiming to combat undeclared and underreported work as well as contribution evasion.
