Erdogan on Greece’s Seismic Activity, Emphasizes Disaster Preparedness

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has addressed the recent seismic activity in Greece, drawing parallels to the devastating earthquakes that struck Turkey and Syria two years ago.

Speaking after a cabinet meeting, Mr. Erdogan

underscored the importance of disaster preparedness, using the situation in the Cyclades as a reminder.

“In a few days, we will mark the second anniversary of the disaster of the century in Turkey. From day one, we have prioritized the needs of earthquake victims, evaluating the recovery efforts at every cabinet session,” he said.

Mr. Erdogan also reflected on his government’s response, stressing that rebuilding efforts have remained a top priority despite other pressing national issues.

“We have visited the affected areas at every opportunity, embracing our earthquake-stricken brothers and sisters, and sharing in their struggles,” he noted.

He also took a swipe at political critics who had doubted his administration’s response, saying that their efforts have proven them wrong with the delivery of new housing and workplaces to those affected.
